These Are the Top 21 Colors + 5 Prints To Pair with Olive Green Pants & Bottoms

Olive green pants in any length, fabric or style are an easy addition to most seasonal wardrobes.

The color is very much on-trend, but classic, and a great pant color for transitional months like fall and spring.

If you’re unsure how to style olive green pants (or any olive bottom), you should start with color!

Prints & colors that go with olive green pants:

Below are the top contenders, with a final list of colors to avoid if you’re not a styling pro.

I’m going to start you off with shades on the grey scale, then move on to neutrals, colors and then over to prints.

Black with Olive Green

[For reference, I’m wearing Old Navy’s High Waisted Crop Chinos in a size 4 that are currently on sale. I reviewed them along with other olive green pants, here.]

Black is the darkest shade that goes with everything and olive green is no exception.

A black tee or top makes a great base for adding other neutral layers, or a pop of color. Or to go all black everything, to relaly make your olive green trousers pop!

White + Off White

Off-White

White, especially off-white is a no-fail color that plays well with others.

With olive green, bright optic white will be of more contrast, while off-white or ivory shades will give a more subtle contrast great for natural styled outfits.

You can easily add neutrals colors, shades and many other colors to this pairing. So it makes for a great outfit base!

Light Grey, sometimes Dark Grey

Light to medium grey, especially heathered grey, is a lovely compliment to olive green for more casual looks.

Dark grey can be tricky, and unless it has a contrast color print (like the grey graphic tee I’m wearing above). Otherwise, plain dark grey will dull the olive green color.

If you put your thumb to cover the white smiley face, it’ll become apparent!

Now let’s get to the neutral colors that go with olive green pants!

Beige, Tan and Camel

These light brown hues give an earthy feel to olive green pants–great for natural, relaxed fashion styling. You can easily add any white, black and other earth-tones into the mix.

I didn’t have a beige top to showcase with these olive green pants, but as soon as I unearth my beige sweaters for Fall, I’ll add that photo for you!

Dark Brown

Espresso and chocolate brown also give an earthy like the lighter browns, but with more drama. Great combo for work or Fall/Winter.

The slight reddish hue in the brown really makes the olive green pants pop.

Navy Blue

Navy blue might not provide a stark contrast to olive green, but it’s a lovely neutral color. A great alternative to black!

All Shades of Blue Denim

Denim Blues

Denim blues have become a neutral during the years and really go with any other color. When pairing denim with olive green, you can reach for any shade of denim blue.

The lighter the denim, the more contrast it will provide. You can have fun with multi-color blue denim in a patchwork top or jacket.

If brighter colors are more your style, then stay tuned for the following colors for olive green pants, below.

Light And Mustard Yellow

Mustard and Mellow Yellow

Bold and beautiful, yellow contrasts so well with olive green and even other green hues like khaki and emerald.

A pale, sunshine or mellow yellow makes a great olive green combination for spring or summer, in particular.

Mustard yellow is a bolder yellow hue that plays wonderfully with olive green and a favorite for fall, due to its mix with orange. Rust is also a great, more orangey hue to try out!rust

Light Pink, Fuchsia + Blush

One of my favorite colors to wear with olive green pants is pink. From bright fuchsia, to bubblegum to Barbie pink, they all look fantastic!

The bold contrast is fun for all season. You can reach for wooly pink sweaters with olive green trousers in fall/winter or a bright pink tank, tee or blouse for the warmer months.

No pictured here, but blush pink is a more subtle pink hue that lightens the look of olive green.

Blush makes a great olive green pant color choice for those who prefer a romantic style.

Eggplant, Plum + Burgundy

In the photo above I’m wearing an eggplant color that looks really nice and offers a less bright contrast of color to olive green.

However, plums (that can be more brown) and burgundy hues (tends to be more red) also do just as well.

A wine hue, with it’s added red, will give more contrast to olive green, but take care not to go too red, as it will look very Christmassy.

Mint Green, Sage Green & Olive

Yes, greens can also pair well with olive green, even olive green, for a head-to-toe olive look.

Sage green offers a more subtle contrast, white pale green offers more. Mint green will be the boldest of the light greens.

Any of these green combination of colors with olive would look fab with a dark forest green jacket, coat or shoes for a monochromatic look.

Warm tones would also pair well like beige tan and off white, as will black and certain pinks.

Khaki Green with Olive

Khaki green is darker than olive green and has more brown tones in it.

A dark enough khaki green will give enough contrast and works well for monochromatic pairings, like this incredible olive green trouser suit look from Banana Republic.

Just add black, beige or dark brown hues to complete your look.

Below we move onto which prints go with olive green pants.

There’s one easy rule to follow if you’re unsure whether a pattern will go with olive green. And that is whether the print contains a mix of any of the above colors.

If yes, then you’ve likely got a winner!

Black And White STripes

Black and white striped anything with olive green gives the outfit a fresh burst of energy! This makes a great base for a classic, relaxed, French or edgy style, depending on how you finish off the styling. If your style is more quirky, polkadots work well too!

Want less contrast? Choose a tan/black, navy/off-white or a tan/white print instead.

Classic Camouflage Print

As most green colors look great with olive green, a camo print is an easy way to create a monochromatic look with your olive pieces.

This camouflage print jacket I’m wearing has all greens, rather than having a pop of beige. A camo print with tans and beiges will look great, if not better, offering more contrast to the pants.

Leopard Print + Cheetah PRints

Leopard print

A classic that keeps on giving, especially right now, at another height of its popularity! A classic leopard with olive green or even a cheetah print has all the colors that already pair well with olive.

Unlike all of the colors separately, the leopard print provides a catchy contrast to an olive base and a bit of edge. Great to spice up any outfit!

Snake Print

A more subtle animal print to wear with olive green pants is a classic snake print.

The subtle beige/tan/brown tones offer a textured neutral, while not calling the attention that a leopard or cheetah print does.

Florals

Small floral print

If you’re into more of a romantic or natural style, try a florals with olive green that has an off white or beige base. Just like this blouse I’m pairing with my trousers, which also incorporates some olive green, tan and coral.

But your florals don’t need to be as small and subtle. You can choose a more punchy florals, with say, fuchsia pink flowers on a white base.

Avoid Wearing these colors with olive green pants:

If you’re not a styling expert or are at the beginning of your styling journey, there are colors to avoid. That’s because they require more savvy styling I’d leave to the experts!

These are the colors I wouldn’t recommend wearing with olive green pants:

  • Dark grey (with no print): too dull with olive green
  • Most orange shades: may look Halloween-themed
  • Red: may look Christmas-themed
  • Dark Turquoise: not enough contrast
  • Bright or Neon Green: not appealing to the eye
